How to play
Everything you need to play PES 2013 Online with the copy of the game you already own. It takes about ten minutes the first time.
What you need
- PES 2013 for PC, installed, with the latest patch (1.04). It has to be your own copy: we cannot give you one, and no game files are shared here.
- Windows 7 SP1, 8, 10 or 11. Windows 7 also needs .NET Framework 4.5 or newer.
- Administrator rights on your PC, once, for the setup tool.
- An email address you can open, to confirm your account.
- A normal home internet connection. Matches go straight from player to player, so a cable connection is best.
Get started in 5 steps
1. Register
Create your account on the register page. Choose your username with care: it is the name you log in with inside the game, and it is hard to change later. You can also sign up with Discord. Open the email we send you and click the link. If it does not arrive, look in your spam folder.
2. Wait for approval
New accounts are approved by a person, to keep the server friendly. There is no approval email: open your account page, it shows when you are in. If a day passes, say hello on Discord.
3. Create your game password
Once approved, open your account page and press Create my game password.
- It is made for you. It is 10 characters: lowercase letters and digits.
- It is shown once. Write it down before you leave the page.
- It is not your website password. In the game you type this one.
- Lost it? Create a new one on the same page. The old one stops working at once.
4. Run PES2013Connect
Close PES 2013 first. Download the tool from the download page, run PES2013Connect.exe and choose
1) Connect this PC to PES 2013 Online. Windows will ask for administrator permission: that is expected. If you are asked for an administrator's password, use your own Windows account if it is an administrator: the tool then prepares your own game and save folders.
Windows SmartScreen may warn you because the tool is not signed. Choose More info, then Run anyway, once you have checked the file's checksum on the download page.
You only need to do this once. Run it again after a game update, or to repair or undo the setup.
5. Log in and play
Start PES 2013, go to the online mode and log in with your username and your game password from step 3. The game may offer to remember the password.
While the setup is on, Konami's own login websites (id.konami.net, my.konami.net) will not open on this PC. To undo everything, choose 3) Remove all changes in PES2013Connect.
Playing
- Quick match. Choose a quick match and wait. The server looks for an opponent in your own country first, then your region, then anyone after about a minute, so games are usually smoother. Ranked matches change your rating.
- Rooms. Create a room or join a friend's, play, and the result is kept. Skorlar lists matches being played now.
- Communities. Join or create a community to play with the same group. Community sessions have a team mode: up to 4 players a side, up to 8 in a session.
- Friends. Add friends from the members panel and see who is online.
- Giving up. In a quick match you can give up at half time. It counts as a loss, not as leaving.
- 2 vs 2 and switching players. If you are stuck controlling one player, turn on Cursor Switching in the game's General Match Settings.
Your record is on the leaderboard, under the name you chose in the game.
Tournaments
- Look at the tournaments page: entries, fixtures, tables and results are there, with a poster you can share.
- When registration is open, enter from the game: Online, then Competitions (for Master League Online cups: Master League Online, then Competitions).
- Pick your team and squad when the game asks. Some tournaments only accept players chosen by the organiser.
- Times are shown in Istanbul time.
- If you linked Discord, you are added to the tournament's private thread. Arrange matches there. Results and the organisers' decisions are posted in it, and it stays open after the final.
Groups, then knockout. Some tournaments work like the Champions League: you are drawn into a group and play everyone in it, then the best players of each group go through to a knockout bracket where every tie has a winner (extra time and penalties if level). Group games can be played in any order before the deadline; the knockout round opens when the group stage is over. The match length can differ between the group games, the knockout rounds and the final.
You can only be in one running tournament at a time. If you cannot play a round, tell the organiser in the thread before the deadline.
Master League Online
- Create your club in the game (Master League Online). You start with a squad and some money.
- Play MLO matches for income and rating. Every match costs an entry fee; a loss still leaves you some cash.
- Buy and sell players on the transfer market. Prices follow the player's rating, how many clubs own him and how much he plays. The price you see is the price you pay.
- Contracts run down by one every match. Renew players before they expire. You always keep at least one goalkeeper under contract: your last one cannot be sold, and if his contract would run out he gets a free short renewal.
- Climb the weekly rival rankings and enter MLO cups and leagues (announced on Discord).
Game updates
There are two kinds, and they work differently.
A new game patch (the program itself)
If the game says your version is not up to date and opens a web page, your pes2013.exe needs the current patch. Install it, then run PES2013Connect and connect again.
A new data pack (players, teams, kits)
The game updates this itself. You will not be sent to a web page.
- Close the game and run PES2013Connect again (option 1). It switches the game's edit tool (PESEDIT) to Online and puts your edited save folder aside. Your edits are not deleted: they are kept in a folder named like
save.pre-6.01-…insideDocuments\KONAMI\Pro Evolution Soccer 2013. - Start the game and go online. The game shows its own update screen: accept it and wait for the download.
- Restart the game when it asks, then connect as usual.
Until you update, Master League Online, competitions and the widget stay locked by the game. Quick matches may still work, but update soon so everyone plays on the same data.
Discord
Link Discord on your account page (or sign up with it). Then:
- you are added to your tournaments' private threads and pinged for your results;
- Master League Online players get their role;
- your Discord name shows next to your name on tournament pages. Some tournaments and clubs may require a linked Discord.
A good connection
- Use a cable if you can, and pause downloads and streaming while you play.
- The setup tool opens the firewall for UDP ports 5730 to 5739. On a router with strict settings, make sure those ports are not blocked.
- If two players' games cannot reach each other directly, the next attempt goes through the server's relay by itself. You do not need to do anything.
- Mobile hotspots and some shared home connections cannot host matches. Try another network if matches keep failing.
Something is wrong
- The game refuses my login
- Use your game password, 10 characters, not your website password. If the game remembered an older one, clear the password box and type the current one. Still stuck? Create a new game password on your account page.
- "Your PES 2013 version is not up to date" and a web page opens
- Your game program needs the current patch (1.04). See Game updates.
- The game does not offer the data pack update
- Close the game, run PES2013Connect (option 1) again so PESEDIT is set to Online, then start the game and go online. The tool shows which game folder and save folder it used: check that it is the game you play, and that
pes2013.exeis in that folder. - The data pack update fails or starts again and again
- Run PES2013Connect and choose 4) Collect diagnostics. It saves a report to your Desktop that you can read, and, if you agree, sends it to the administrators. Tell them the report code it shows. It contains versions, folder names, file sizes and dates, free disk space and a download test. It never contains passwords or your save files, and your Windows user name is hidden.
- My account is not approved yet
- Approval is done by hand. Check your account page, and ask on Discord after a day.
- The game cannot connect at all
- Run PES2013Connect and choose 2) Check the connection. Close and reopen the game, and check that a firewall or antivirus is not blocking it.
- Konami's website will not open
- Expected while connected. Choose 3) Remove all changes in PES2013Connect to open it again, and run option 1 when you want to play.
- I cannot connect to my opponent, or the match freezes
- See A good connection. Tell us the time and your opponent's name on Discord so we can look at the logs.
- I forgot my website password
- Use the forgot password page.
Still need help? Ask on Discord and include your username (never your passwords).
Fair play
- Play to the end. Leaving a match early counts against your fair-play rating; giving up at half time does not.
- Be respectful in chat, on Discord and in tournament threads.
- One account per person. Never share your game password.
